A 16 year old girl was raped, murdered and then set afire at her house in east Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar area.
The incident took place on July 28 when the two youths allegedly came to her house and murdered her after sexually assaulting her. They also allegedly tried to burn her body.
During the preliminary investigation, police assumed that it was a suicide, but the autopsy report of the deceased revealed that she was strangulated to death and her body was set on fire.
Probe revealed that the youths, Ashu and Danish, had barged into the girl's third floor house while she was alone and raped her. They smothered her with a pillow to muffle her screams. They then poured turpentine oil on her private parts and set the body on fire, according to a Times of India report.
During investigation, a victim’s friend came forward and told police that the two youth used to stalk her and the deceased. She also told police that they also raped her once and tried to murder her. She managed to escape but did not disclose the incident, as they threatened her with dire consequences, police said.
