The Delhi Police came across a murder plot that seems no less than a filmy script, in fact the method was similar to the one used by Cold War assassins.
According to a Times of India report, a man contracted a physiotherapist to kill a bank cashier, with whose wife he had been in love since college days. The physiotherapist, Prem, injected the man with a lethal cocktail of drugs in a Delhi market on Sunday.
Prem, was, however, caught by the public and handed over to the police and the “contractor” in this case has been identified as a gym trainer named Anish Yadav.
According to the police, the victim, identified as Ravi Kumar (27), had been walking back home after the day’s work at Kotak Mahindra Bank.
At around 7:15 pm, when he reached a movie theatre in Sadar Bazar, he felt something pierce his neck. When he touched his neck, he saw blood on his hand. Kumar collapsed within seconds but managed to turn around and catch hold of the person standing behind him.
Prem was overpowered with the help of public and handed over to police.
Prem (27), who is a qualified psychotherapist, told the police that he had administered the injection containing a combination of two drugs on the instructions of Anish Yadav who had paid him Rs 1.5 lakh for carrying out the job, he said.
Anish was a neighbour of Ravi's wife and they had studied together till graduation.
"Anish used to like her and even wanted to marry her. However, after she got married to Ravi, Anish got married to another woman in February last year," said the officer.
Anish, however, abandoned his wife within a few months of marriage as he couldn't forget his collegemate.
"He hatched a plan to kill Ravi so that he would be able to marry her. He contacted Prem who agreed to kill Ravi by giving the injection," he added.
Ravi died during treatment. "Anish has also been arrested. Both the accused are in police custody remand," the officer added.
