New Delhi: A 17-year-old girl, who wanted to become a doctor, committed suicide at her home in New Delhi's Morris Nagar area on Tuesday after she could not clear the chemistry paper in class 12 Board exams.
According to police, after the result came out on May 10, Reema Sood locked herself in a room and hanged herself. Reema also left a note saying she wanted her organs donated.
Her parent later donated Reema’s eyes to respect her last wish, police said, adding that the two-page suicide note was recovered from her school bag almost a day after she died. Her other organs were rendered useless due to the delay.
The teen did not blame anyone for the extreme step she was taking, police said.
“I cannot live without any destination… Sorry Papa I failed to be your good daughter… Don’t blame anybody for my extreme step… Papa my last wish is to donate my organs to needy persons…(sic),” Reema said in the note.
She had appeared for the Chemistry exam for the second time but could not secure the passing marks which reportedly led to depression, police said.
The incident was reported on Tuesday evening when Reema’s relatives found her hanging from the ceiling and raised the alarm. She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead, police said. Her mother Mamta Rani was busy in household work when Reema took this extreme step.
