Delhi: Fog delays 16 in-bound trains, minimum temperature recorded at 5.5 degrees Celsius

Delhi woke up to a cold morning on Monday as the minimum temperature in the national capital was recorded at 5.5 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season's average, the weather office said. The maximum temperature, however, is likely to hover around 19 degrees Celsius.

According to an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), "There was shallow fog in the morning, but the sky will mainly remain clear throughout the day. There will be haze or smog thereafter with gusty winds.”

At 8.30 a.m., humidity was recorded at 94 per cent while visibility was at 400 metres.

Meanwhile, at least 16 train arrivals in Delhi were delayed on Monday due to fog or poor visibility.

The minimum temperature on Sunday was recorded at 5.2 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature was recorded four notches below the average at 18.8 degrees Celsius.
