An assistant inspector of Delhi police was Saturday arrested by the Maharashtra Anti Corruption Bureau for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe in return for not serving a proclamation warrant issued against a person, officials said.
ASI Lehri Singh, attached to Delhi's Chittaranjan Park police station, had come to serve a proclamation warrant issued by a Delhi court against a Pune resident, ACB officials said.
In order to not serve the warrant, the accused allegedly asked Rs 40,000 from the man, they said.
The man lodged a complaint with the ACB and Singh was arrested while accepting Rs 25,000 in a trap laid by the agency near a railway station, they said.
He has been charged under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, they added.
