Celebrations abound in the family of India’s most wanted underworld don Dawood Ibrahim as his nephew Aloishah Parker, the youngest son of Dawood’s sister Haseena Parker, is going to get married on Wednesday.

According to a Mid-Day report, Dawood’s family has made arrangements to allow him to watch the wedding from Pakistan via Skype.

The wedding is likely to be a grand affair since Alishah is the only surviving son of Haseena. Her daughter Umaira got married last year, but the family kept it a low-key affair since it was less than a year since Haseena’s death.

Haseena’s husband Ibrahim Parker was allegedly murdered by the Arun Gawli gang in the late 1990s, while Alishah’s elder brother Danish died in a road accident in 2006.

“After nearly a decade, this is the first happy occasion for the family. Therefore they have decided to have lavish celebrations,” a close aide of the family was quoted by Mid-Day as saying.

Alishah, who is in the construction business, is marrying Ayesha – the daughter of Mumbai-based businessman Shiraj Ali Mohammad Nagani, who belongs to the Memon community.

The nikah rituals will be performed at 11 am at Rasool Masjid in Nagpada. However, the wedding reception, which is expected to be a lavish one, will be carried out at the Tipu Sultan Hotel in Juhu at 9 pm.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Crime Branch has asked its officers to monitor the event and watch out for wanted Dawood aides.

“Over a dozen Mumbai police personnel will keep a close watch on the proceedings to see if any underworld elements attend the function. Constables in plainclothes will not only keep vigil, but will even jot down the details of cars at the reception,” said a senior police officer.
