Dainik Bhaskar Group chairman Ramesh Agarwal passed away today following a cardiac arrest. He was 73.
Agarwal, the chairman of the Rs 960 crore DB Corporation, breathed his last at Apollo Hospital in Ahmedabad. He is survived by three sons.
Agarwal had boarded a flight for Ahmedabad from Delhi at 9:20 am. Around 11 am, he suffered a major stroke at Ahmedabad airport. He was rushed to Apollo Hospital but doctors couldn’t save him.
He led Dainik Bhaskar Group for more than four decades and was also ranked 95th in Forbes list of richest Indians in 2011.
Agarwal, who was awarded with Rajiv Gandhi Life Time Achievement Award in Journalism, was also the chairman of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry – Madhya Pradesh.
He held a post-graduate degree (Master’s in Arts) in Political Science from Bhopal University, Bhopal.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the demise of Agarwal.
