A BJP leader’s son is among the three men accused of gangraping a 36-year-old woman in Chhattisgarh’s Mahasamund district.
While the police have nabbed two of the accused – Devendra (23) and Farid Ali (25) – Prince Saluja, son of the local BJP leader, is still absconding.
During the preliminary investigation, it was found that the victim, who works in a private school as a cook in Balodabazar-Bhatapara district, had come to her parents' home for Dussehra.
On the night of October 11, the victim had gone along with her sister behind their house to relieve herself.
The three men were waiting for them, and forced the victim inside their vehicle. They took her to a secluded place and allegedly raped her. The three also filmed her, and threatened to post the clip online if she approached the police.
The trio then fled abandoning the woman close to her house.
The victim lodged a complaint in this connection on October 14 following which Devendra and Farid were arrested yesterday. The car, which belongs to Prince, used in the crime was also seized, said Basna SHO Narendra Yadav.
Efforts are on nab the third accused who is absconding, he said.
The three accused were booked under sections 376 (g) (gang rape) and 506(b) (criminal intimidation) of IPC, the SHO said, adding that further probe was on.
