Days after Enforcement Directorate conducted raids at his premises, businessman and Congress President Rahul Gandhi's brother-in-law Robert Vadra dismissed the charges levelled against him and called them 'totally false' and 'politically motivated'. He added that he would not allow his name to be used for political blackmail.

Reiterating that he will cooperate to the investigation, Vadra said that the process should be done in a legal manner. Speaking to ANI, he said; "We have replied to every notice. But my family is under stress, mother is unwell, my premises were ransacked and locks broken. Everything should be done legally, we have always been cooperating".

The ED team had raided the Delhi office of Vadra and the residences of two of his associates on Friday. Vadra's lawyer Suman Khaitan cried foul and claimed that the ED officials raided close associates and business partners of Vadra without even showing any search warrants. The raids were reportedly conducted as part of an investigation into alleged commissions received in connection with defence deals, ED sources said.

Slamming the BJP government over the searches carried out by ED, the Congress said the raids against Robert Vadra's associates was a "vendetta" of "unnerved" Modi government to divert the narrative.

Vadra had earlier this week alleged that the corruption probe against him was the result of a 'political witch-hunt' aimed at 'besmirching his dignity and reputation'.

In its defence, the Enforcement Directorate said that its action was within "prescribed procedure".
