Chandigarh: Asaram’s female devotees break down after Jodhpur court convicts 'godman' in 2013 rape case

While one of the devotees called Asaram “innocent”, saying he has been falsely implicated in the rape case, another follower said that devotees like her will maintain peace at any cost.

Many female devotees of self-styled 'godman' Asaram in Chandigarh burst into tears after the Jodhpur SC/ST Court convicted him in 2013 rape case. 

While one of the devotees called  Asaram “innocent”, and said the 'godman' has been falsely implicated in the rape case. Another follower said that devotees will maintain peace at any cost.

“My Bapujee is totally  innocent,” said a wailing devotee in Chandigarh.

“We will maintain peace at any cost. Bapuji will come out some day, if not today," said another devotee here.

One of the female followers of Asaram claimed that his only fault was that he was following the path of truth.

“Bapuji’s only fault is that he has been treading on the path of truth,” she said while talking to India TV.

The Jodhpur SC/ST court today convicted Asaram and two of his aides in 2013 rape case. The court, however, acquitted two other accused in this case.
