Gurgaon: A 47-year-old Chief Operating Officer (COO) of international company, Britannica took a drastic step of ending his life as he allegedly jumped-off the 19th floor of his residential building in Gurgaon on Sunday.
Vineet Whig, COO of Encylopedia Britannica, lived in Belvedere Park, DLF Phase III and jumped from his apartment in the morning. He left a suicide note behind which was later recovered by the police.
It read that as he is fed up of himself and has decided to end his life.
The news of his alleged suicide came as a rude shock to his family which includes his father, wife, two sons and a daughter, with whom he used to reside.
His dead body was first found by the sweepers who then informed to the security guard. The guard then passed on the news to his family members who later informed the police.
"He left early in the morning for a walk but since he was a slow walker, his family assumed that he was still out on his walk when he didn't return home. A security guard from the society told cops that he had gone to the C block on Saturday too. He probably was contemplating suicide since a day ago," said ACP Hawa Singh.
