Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday thanked the family of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose for presenting him with a cap worn by the leader. The prime minister visited the Subhas Chandra Bose Museum at Red Fort and paid floral tributes to mark the leader's 122nd birth anniversary, said the cap will be displayed at Kranti Mandir.
Modi took to Twitter and thanked Netaji’s family for the cap.
"I am grateful to the Bose family for presenting me a cap worn by Netaji Bose himself. The cap has been immediately added to the display gallery at Kranti Mandir in the Red Fort complex. I hope more youngsters come to Kranti Mandir and get inspired by the life of Netaji Bose," he tweeted.
Ahead of Republic Day celebrations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated three new museums inside Delhi’s Red Fort, commemorating India’s freedom struggle.
The first is on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and the Indian National Army (INA). It showcases artifacts related to Bose and INA including a wooden chair and sword used by Netaji, medals, badges, uniforms and more.
The INA trials were held in the Red Fort.
Modi also unveiled the ‘Yaad-e-Jallian' museum that will take the visitors through the history of Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919. It will also showcases the heroism, valour and sacrifices made by Indian soldiers during World War-1.
The third museum portrays the historical narrative of the 1857 war of independence, showcasing the valour and sacrifices made by Indians during the period.
The museums have been designed to provide an immersive experience to visitors with photographs, paintings, newspaper clippings, ancient public records, audio and video clips, animation and multimedia.
“I bow to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his Jayanti. He was a stalwart who committed himself towards ensuring India is free and leads a life of dignity. We are committed to fulfilling his ideals and creating a strong India”, the prime minister said while paying tributes to the freedom fighter.
