The Delhi Police today received a call from an unknown caller claiming that a bomb has been planted in the Khan Market area of the national capital.
“Khan Market mein bomb plant kar diya hai (I have planted bomb in Khan Market),” the caller said, according to police.
Soon after this, police officials along with a bomb disposal squad and a dog squad rushed to the market and began search operation to trace the bomb.
The call was received at 6.50 am. Police have so far not declared it a hoax.
Police said that officials are still at the site and search operation is underway to locate suspicious objects.
“A male voice from the other end said a bomb has been planted in Khan Market and hung up immediately after,” a police official said.
All steps are being taken as per the standard drill to handle such calls, police said, adding that security has been tightened in the vicinity.
Khan Market is located in the heart of the capital, very close to India Gate. It is the world’s 24th most expensive retail location and continues to be the costliest to hire a shop in India.
