BJP Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Vijay suffered serious injuries today after a ruckus erupted outside the Silgur Devta temple near Mussorie in Uttarakhand.

As per reports, his car was also vandalised in the scuffle. The MP was rushed to a nearby government hospital for treatment, police said.
As per information available, trouble began when Tarun Jijay entered the temple along with some Dalit supporters, which is forbidden for people of the lower caste.
Police sources said the upper caste villagers of a nearby area had organised a feast in honour of local god. However, an irate mob started pelting stones when they saw the Dalit crowd coming out of temple.
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat has ordered enquiry by Garhwal Commissioner on the incident.
“The incident is not acceptable. Strict action will be taken against found guilty, condemned those responsible,” said Rawat.
