The Bihar cabinet on Wednesday approved a hike in the dearness allowance payable to state government employees, pensioners and family pensioners.
The nod was given at a meeting of the state cabinet held on Wednesday morning and chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Principal Secretary of cabinet secretariat department Brajesh Mehrotra said.
He said the DA payable to those getting salary or pension as per revised pay scale has been raised from four per cent to five per cent, with effect from July 1 this year.
For those receiving unrevised salary/pension as per the Sixth Pay Commission, the hike will be from 136 per cent to 139 per cent while those getting unrevised salary/pension as per the Fifth Pay Commission, the raise will be from 264 per cent to 268 per cent.
The cabinet gave its nod to a total of 40 proposals relating to SC/ST Welfare Department, Agriculture, Water Resources, Power, Education and Urban Development, Mehrotra added.
