At least five persons were killed and 25 others were injured when a blast rocked an illegal firecracker factory in Bihar’s Nalanda district, around 53 km south of state capital Patna, late last night. The incident took place in Nalanda's Jalalpur area.
As soon as the district administration learned about the incident, they rushed to the incident site. All injured persons were admitted to a nearby hospital for medical relief.
Security personnel cordoned off the area and took the control of vicinity in their hand.
This morning, a team of Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) comprising eight members visited the incident spot to assess the circumstances under which the blast took place.
Earlier in January, a low-intensity bomb was exploded just hours after Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama finished a sermon in Nalanda – Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s home district.
