Saifullah alias Bahadur Ali, the Pakistani terrorist who was caught alive by security forces in Kashmir’s Kupwara on July 26, has confessed that he is a Pakistani national and an operative of Hizbul Mujahideen.
According to reports, Ali, who is a resident of Lahore, said that the Hizbul had sent him to Kashmir to wage war against India.
Ali, who has been brought to Delhi for further questioning by the NIA, was part of a five-member group which was intercepted by the Army at the LoC in Nougam sector of Kupwara district. Four of his associates were killed by security forces during the gunbattle.
“We have handed the case to them (NIA). Rest of the information you shall have to ask them,” Uttam Chand, deputy inspector general of police, north Kashmir range, said.
Three AK-47 rifles, two pistols and Rs 23,000 (Indian currency) were recovered from the 22-year-old terrorist.
Ali's arrest is considered as a major breakthrough in view of the information shared by him about the terror activities of Pakistan in Kashmir.
The development comes at a time when 26/11 mastermind and LeT founder Hafiz Saeed admitted that he was leading the pro-Pakistan protests in different parts of Kashmir after Burhan Wani’s death.
Ali is the fifth Pakistani militant to have been arrested alive since attack on a BSF convoy in Udhampur in August last year.
