Two militants were killed as the Indian Army foiled an attack by the Pakistani Border Action Team (BAT) near the Line of Control in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Sunday.
Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid said a possible tragedy was averted.
"BAT action bid foiled by Army and JKP. Two terrorists killed in Dulanja Uri. No casualty on our side. Possible tragedy averted," Vaid wrote on Twitter.
He did not share any further details.
Earlier, the Army said two militants were killed as the Army foiled an infiltration bid along the LoC in Uri sector.
Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said, "The terrorists were killed in Uri sector after alert troops foiled the infiltration bid."
"A search operation is ongoing in the area," he said.
Another infiltration bid in Machhil sector along the LoC was foiled on Friday and a militant was killed by the security forces. A weapon was recovered from the spot, an Army official had said.
