Army today foiled an infiltration bid and killed three militants along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu: Army today foiled an infiltration bid and killed three militants along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Defence spokesman Col SD Goswami said that on Friday morning a group of terrorists tried to infiltrate from across the international border in the Poonch sector but the attempt was foiled by the security forces.

“A group of militants infiltrated into this side of the LoC. Troops engaged them in Sajiyan area of Poonch district,” he said.

“In the gunbattle, three militants were killed,” he added.

He said that the gunbattle with the heavily armed infiltrates was still on in the area when the last reports came in from the area.

Meanwhile, curfew on Saturday remained in force across Kashmir and normal life paralysed for the eighth day in the wake of clashes following killing of Hizbul terrorist Burhan Wani.

A senior police official said that the curfew continues to remain in force in all 10 districts of Kashmir valley on Saturday as precautionary measure for maintaining law and order.
