The Army today foiled an infiltration bid by militants along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir's Naugam sector in Kupwara district.
According to news agency ANI, two terrorists were killed and two soldiers attained martyrdom in the ongoing gun battle.
"An infiltration bid was foiled by alert troops along the LoC in Naugam sector. Two infiltrating terrorists were killed," an Army official told PTI.
He said two soldiers attained martyrdom in the operation, which was continuing till last reports were received.
The attack comes a day after Defence Minister Arun Jaitley said that the Indian forces will give ‘adequate response’ to any form of ceasefire violation on the border which has been witnessing repeated shelling from across.
Jaitley, who undertook a visit to a Rampur sector of the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir, said the Indian Army is fully prepared to foil any form of infiltration bid. He also asserted that there will be no differentiation between local and foreign militants and anybody indulging in violence will be dealt with accordingly.
"Our soldiers are fully confident that they will not allow any form of infiltration to take place. And if there is any effort or any form of ceasefire violation, our soldiers will give an adequate response," Jaitley had told reporters here.
