Around half a dozen armed criminals on Thursday stormed a branch of the Indian Bank in Sheikhpura district of Bihar and fled with Rs 22 lakh, police said.
As the branch of the Indian Bank located at Katra chowk in Sheikhpura town opened in the morning, around half a dozen armed miscreants barged into the bank and held the manager Pankaj Kumar and other staff captive before decamping with Rs 22.67 lakh from cash counter, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Amit Sharan said.
The SDPO said that the miscreants also thrashed the branch manager and a customer. They also locked the main gate of the bank branch from outside before decamping with the looted money.
The officer said that the borders of the district have been sealed and police teams are conducting raids to nab the miscreants.
