The Central Investigation Unit of the Andhra Pradesh Anti-Corruption Bureau on Tuesday conducted raids at the residence of an office attendant and arrested him for amassing assets worth over Rs 10 crore.
The accused, K Narasimha Reddy, who was working at the office of the Nellore Deputy Transport Commissioner as an office attendant, earning about Rs 40,000 per month, first came to the attention of the ACB officers when he recently purchased his 18th plot of land.
Earlier, Reddy, an enthusiast of hand-crafted silver ornaments, had come under the investigating agency’s radar after he placed orders for dozens of silver items weighing more than 7 kilograms and purchased gold ornaments from showrooms in Vijayawada.
Officers have recovered property documents of 18 plots which were registered under his name and of his wife and relatives. Officials have also recovered around Rs 7 lakh in cash, Rs 20 lakh in bank documents, 2 kg gold ornaments, and deposits in Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) worth more than Rs 1 crore and more than 50 acres of agricultural land.
The accused has been taken into custody and will be produced in ACB special court after the completion of necessary formalities.
