The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday asked the Uttar Pradesh government to set up special courts for speedy trial of cases involving atrocities on members of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes within eight weeks.
The direction was given by the full bench of the high court, which asked the government to start forthwith a consultative process to set up the special courts.
The bench comprised Chief Justice DB Bhosale and included Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Yashwant Varma.
