Pakistan on Sunday “warned” India against cross-border strikes after terrorists attacked the Sunjuwan Army camp in Jammu, in which five jawans and a civilian was killed.
Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) has claimed responsibility for the attack, the worst after the one at Uri Army camp in 2016.
However, Pakistan has rejected allegations that it was involved in the attack on Sunjuwan Army camp, saying Indian media and officials make “irresponsible” statements even before any investigation is initiated.
"It is a well-established pattern that Indian officials begin making irresponsible statements and levelling unfounded allegations, even before any proper investigation in any incident has been initiated," Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson said, when asked about the attack on Sunjuwan Army camp in Jammu.
Islamabad also alleged that India is trying to divert the attention from its brutality in trying to control the armed revolt in Kashmir, and warned against any retaliatory measures across the Line of Control (LoC).
" We hope that the international community would urge India to stop the untold atrocities and gross violations of human rights in Kashmir (and) refrain from any misadventure across the Line of Control...," the spokesperson said.
A pre-dawn audacious strike at the military station by suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists on Saturday claimed lives of five Army jawans and a civilian. Three militants were gunned down in the encounter, while the fourth one is still believed to be holed up inside the Sunjuwan military camp.
Pakistan’s reaction seems as its anxiety over the “surgical strikes” carried out by the Indian Army in September 2016 in retaliation to the terror attack carried out by Lashkar militants in an Army camp in Uri, which left 19 jawans dead.
