300-plus majority, say Amit Shah-PM Narendra Modi in a joint press conference; Rahul says wait until May 23 | Watch

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a press conference with BJP president Amit Shah at BJP headquarters in New Delhi.

The Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi exuded confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will get more than 300 seats in the Lok Sabha Election 2019. PM Modi-Amit Shah said this will addressing a joint press conference at the BJP headquarters located at Pandit Deen Dayal Marg in New Delhi.

"The BJP-led NDA is coming back to power with a comprehensive majority, party president Amit Shah said on Friday. "We are heading towards a 300+ majority," Amit Shah said. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who also addressed media after Amit Shah finished, thanked media for its coverage during what he called was toughest, tiring but rewarding election campaign.

"It was a splendid election campaign," PM Modi said. 

"The BJP-led NDA is heading towards a clear majority," Prime Minister said with a sense of belief clearly visible on his face, "I have not missed or cancelled a single rally," said PM Modi as he looked at Amit Shah. 

“It is the first time in many years that a government which had a majority is coming back to power,” PM Modi, in what was his first press conference in five years.
 
“The nation has always stood beside me,” PM said terming “last-man delivery”, as his government's biggest achievement 

When asked about the reason for his confidence, Amit Shah said: "We are confident of our work. Seeing the mood of the people during the campaign, we are confident of a big victory."

"We will get more than 300 seats. NDA will form the government. Modi ji will be our prime minister," Shah reiterated. 

Addressing a joint press brief along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, Amit Shah beamed with confidence saying, "This has been the most exciting poll campaign I have ever seen." The poll campaign for Lok Sabha election 2019 ends today. 

Congress president Rahul Gandhi addressed media right when Modi-Shah duo was holding their press conference.

"Let them [BJP camp] say what they want, you will get to know people's verdict on May 23," said Rahul Gandhi.

Congress president also took a dig at Prime Minister after he was informed that PM Modi was addressing a media conference.

"Well ask him why he was hiding from debating with me on Rafale," Rahul Gandhi asked.

Rahul Gandhi also blamed media for being soft with the ruling dispensation.

"You ask me from where I will bring Rs 72,000 for NYAY (Nyuntam Aay Yojana). But when it comes to PM Modi, you ask, "Whether you eat mangoes or not?" This is not fair. Show a bit of fairness."

The final phase of polling ends on May 19. Counting of votes will begin on May 23.
