The Army on Thursday foiled yet another infiltration bid killing three terrorists in Gurez sector in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday.
“Three terrorists were killed as the infiltration bid was eliminated in Gurez Sector,” said Srinagar-based Army spokesperson Colonel Rajesh kalia.
“The operation is in progress,” according to a statement.
The encounter took place when Indian troops, who were monitoring the area, noticed suspicious movement along the Line of Control (LoC) and immediately challenged the intruders.
Further details are awaited.
Last week, the security forces had foiled an infiltration attempt in the same area, neutralising two militants. A group of five to six terrorists had attempted to infiltrate into the Indian side in the wee hours of last Friday. However, the prompt and appropriate response by security forces led to a gunfight in which two of them were killed.
On Sunday, the security forces gunned down a militant in Machil sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
