According to authorities, the quake hit at 02:09 PM today and was sufficient to panic people out of their homes into open areas.
Earlier in the day, another seismic tremor had struck India and this was in the north-eastern state of Manipur.
The quake that hit Ukhrul was measured at 4.1 magnitude on the Richter Scale.
