2 civilians killed as Pakistan violates ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district

The Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing from 6am in the morning using mortar bombs, small and automatic weapons.

Two civilians were killed as Pakistan violated ceasefire once again along the Line of Control (LoC)  in Poonch district today.

The two civilians, an off-duty soldier and his wife,  lost their lives in Karmada area of Poonch district.

"The victims comprised an off-duty soldier and his wife. The couple's two children were injured when a shell fired from across the border hit their house on the LoC in Gulpur area," the police said.

The Indian troops are also returning the fire strongly and effectively.

"Pakistan Army began indiscriminate firing and shelling on our positions on the LoC in Gulpur area," news agency IANS quoted its defence sources as saying.

"The firing is ongoing and our forces are effectively retaliating," the defence source added.
