At least 13 children and a staff member were hospitalised after consuming mid-day meal at an anganwadi centre in Dwarka’s Uttam Nagar area in Delhi. They had complained of vomiting and had lost consciousness after eating the food, police said.
The children and the staff member are being treated at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital.
A police official confirmed that a group based in Uttam Nagar’s Deepak Vihar had supplied boiled gram and rice to the anganwadi centre, which was served to the children and to a pregnant woman.
The pregnant woman did not complain of any uneasiness after she had consumed the meal, he added.
The children who have fallen ill are in the age group of one-and-a half to seven. The staff member has been identified as 45-year-old Rama, the police official said.
An FIR has been registered in the case.
