Former Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam on Monday addressed a press conference in which he alleged that Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut is the kingpin of Khichdi scam.
Meanwhile, Raut is the second leader from Shiv Sena (UBT) who is facing allegations of being involved in the alleged Khichdi scam case.
Earlier in the day, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Amol Kirtikar appeared before the Enforcement Directorate after being summoned by the probe agency.
Addressing a presser on Monday, the now-expelled Congress leader Nirupam, while calling Raut a kingpin in the alleged scam, said, "The kingpin in this whole scam is Sanjay Raut... in this scam, he has taken money in the name of his daughter, brother and partner...He has taken bribes through cheques in the name of his daughter Vidhita Sanjay Raut, who herself is innocent and unaware of these things."
Detailing Raut's involvement, Nirupam added that the Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson committed a scam of Rs 1 crore. He also demanded that an FIR be registered against Raut and that he be arrested.
"The ED should increase the scope of this Khichdi theft case."
Meanwhile, speaking about Amol Kirtikar's involvement, Nirupam said, "Today is April 8, and Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate from North-West Mumbai (Amol Kirtikar), 'Khichdi Chor' has been called by the ED. What ED does after the interrogation, I don't know, but action must be taken against him. The entire population of the North-West district should know how dishonest their possible candidate is."
