Republican Party of India (A) leader and MoS Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale on Thursday met with an accident at Wai, in Maharashtra's Satara. According to an eyewitness, his car hit a container after the vehicle applied brakes. No one was injured in the accident.
Meanwlhie, Athawale in the last month hinted at contesgint in the Lok Sabha elections 2024, saying he was contemplating contesting from either Shirdi or Solapur seat in the upcoming polls and would take a final call only after discussing with the BJP high command.
"My party does not have a single member in Lok Sabha. I am thinking of contesting from Shirdi or Solapur. I want to come to the Lok Sabha. I will discuss this with J P Nadda, Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and decide," he said.
RPI(A) expecting 2 seats in Maharashtra: Athawale
Athawale said on Sunday his Republican Party of India (A) is hopeful of getting two seats for Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra but won’t leave the NDA if that doesn’t happen.
Athawale, whose party is a constituent in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), was addressing a press conference in Nagpur.
The Lok Sabha polls in Maharashtra, which elects 48 MPs, will be held in five phases between April 19 and May 20.
Asked what his response would be if RPI(A) failed to get two seats to contest in the state, he sought to make a case for his outfit, saying its pan-India presence would benefit the BJP and NDA.
