Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024: The Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar may demand for a bigger share of seats during the Maha Vikas Aghadi's (MVA) seat-sharing talks for the Assembly elections in the state.
According to sources, Sharad Pawar, who was present in the NCP's meeting which took place in Pune on Friday, told senior party leaders and newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs) that in the Lok Sabha polls, his party contested on less number of seats in the internet of the alliance but this doesn't mean that they will be contesting on less number of seats in the Assembly elections, due to be held later this year.
The NCP will demand for a respectable number of seats for the Assembly polls, Sharad Pawar told party leaders. They will be contesting the upcoming election as part of the MVA so leaders must remain careful and should not issue any provocative which can hamper the unity of the bloc, Pawar added.
The party supremo further asked newly elected MPs to strongly raise the demand for caste census to create pressure on the government and also raise the issue of Maratha, Dhangar and Lingayat reservation in the Assembly.
