In a significant development, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Mahesh Sawant on Thursday (November 28) was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai after complaining of chest pain. According to the information released, as the leader complained of chest pain, he was taken to the Lilavati hospital, where the doctors conducted an angiography on him. Reportedly, the Sena UBT MLA is stated to be in a stable condition now. Significantly, Mahesh Sawant had recently registered a thumping victory from the Mahim assembly seats in the recently concluded Maharashtra Assembly polls. Sawant won the Mahim seat by defeating MNS leader Amit Thackeray and Shiv Sena leader Sada Sarvankar.

According to data from the Election Commission of India, Sawant secured 50,213 votes, as against Eknath Shinde leader Sarvankar, who received 48,897 votes. Significantly, Amit Thackeray, representing the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), garnered 33,062 votes, finishing third in the contest.
