Maharashtra: Nine killed in blast at explosives manufacturing company in Nagpur, Dy CM announces Rs 5 lakh aid
The local police in Nagpur district are actively engaged in assessing the situation, and preliminary reports indicate a significant loss of life due to the explosion.
A blast occurred at a solar explosive company located 55 kilometers from Nagpur in Bazaar village. The explosion has reportedly resulted in the loss of nine lives, and the casualty count is feared to rise. The blast occurred during the packing process in the Cast Booster Plant.
Post-explosion, a portion of the building collapsed, and the exact number of casualties is yet to be confirmed. The Superintendent of Police in Nagpur Rural informed that four injured individuals have been rescued from the accident site and transported to the hospital. The rescue operation is ongoing, and there could be more people trapped inside.
The intensity of the blast was such that a part of the building collapsed, leading to a challenging rescue operation. The exact number of casualties is still under assessment, and authorities are conducting a thorough search at the site to ensure the safety of those affected.
CM announces Rs 5 lakh aid for victims' families
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, has pledged financial support of Rs 5 lakh to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic explosion at Solar Industries in Nagpur.
Expressing sorrow over the incident, Deputy CM Fadnavis shared his condolences via a tweet, stating, "It is very unfortunate that 9 people including 6 women died in the explosion at Solar Industries in Nagpur. It is a company that manufactures drones and explosives for the defence forces." He further informed that the local authorities, including the Nagpur Collector, Superintendent of Police, IG, SP, and Collector, are actively coordinating efforts at the accident site. Fadnavis assured that the state government will extend financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased individuals affected by this unfortunate incident.
While the cause of the blast remains unknown, residents reported hearing the sound of the explosion several kilometers away from the incident site. The incident has raised concerns about safety protocols and the potential risks associated with such facilities. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the blast and prevent similar incidents in the future.
