On the occasion of the 78th Independence Day, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday (August 15) hoisted the national flag at his official residence in Mumbai. During the ceremony, he was joined by his son, Lok Sabha MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde, along with officers from the Chief Minister's office, police personnel, and staff present.
'I salute the martyrs who sacrificed their lives': Maharashtra CM
Speaking to the media, soon after the conclusion of the flag-hoisting ceremony, the Maharashtra CM extended tributes to the martyrs of the freedom struggle. "I extend my good wishes to all the citizens of the country on this day. Freedom fighters sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country... I salute them," the Maharashtra CM said.
Further, he also elaborated on the disbursement of money to the accounts of thousands of women under the state government's 'Ladki Bahin" scheme. It is pertinent to note that, with just a few days left for the official launch of the Maharashtra government's new "Ladki Bahin Yojana," the Maharashtra government on August 14 informed that it has succeeded in transferring Rs 3,000 in select bank accounts of beneficiaries on a trial basis covering two months.

Moreover, in his address after hoisting the national flag here, the Maharashtra CM alos talked about state's contribution towards achieving the dream of 'Viksit Bharat' (developed India).
He said, "Maharashtra's development ranking had slipped as compared to other states. There was a challenge to bring the state's economy on track and the state government has done it effectively."
"Be it instilling confidence among investors, industrialists or common man, we have effectively demonstrated it. In the last two years, Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 5 lakh crore have been signed, which will result in creation of 2.5 lakh jobs...Maharashtra ranks first in the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in India," the CM added.
Further, the CM also added that the state government has undertaken fundamental changes in the areas of agriculture, education, power generation, health and basic infrastructure. According to him, the Maharashtra Logistics Policy aims to generate a revenue of Rs 30,000 crore.
