An Indian Army helicopter, ALH Dhruv, on Saturday made a precautionary landing in a field located in Erandoli village of Sangli district. The incident occurred at approximately 9:50 am on Saturday, when the helicopter suddenly landed in the field, due to technical snag. It was en-route to Bengaluru from Nashik.
The Indian Army official, speaking about the incident said, the precautionary landing was made as the chopper experienced excessive vibration in the air. Elaborating more, he added, "An ALH Dhruv helicopter of the Indian Army had to make a precautionary landing in a field near a village in Sangli district of Maharashtra today. The chopper experienced excessive vibrations in the air. The chopper has now flown back to Nasik military station."
Moreover, according to the reports all the three army personnel (two pilots and a technician) on-board the helicopter are safe. Significantly, the incident comes month after an IAF Chetak helicopter, en route to Jaipur, made a safe precautionary landing in the Didwana village in Rajasthan on March 1. While, no casualties were reported then, the officials said the landing was made due to engine chip warning light.
Earlier, a Chetak helicopter of the Indian Navy also met with a ground accident at the runway of INS Garuda, Kochi, officials said, adding that a navy sailor lost his life in the incident. According to officials of the Indian Navy, the helicopter met with an accident during routine maintenance taxi checks.
