In an unfortunate incident, three people died after a helicopter crashed in Maharashtra's Pune on Wednesday morning, the police said. The crash occurred in the Bavdhan area of Pune district. The helicopter was completely damaged as fire engulfed it soon after the crash.
Soon after the tragic incident, two ambulances and four fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Commissioner of Police (CP) of Pimpri Chinchwad confirmed the news and said, "Three people died in the incident. Senior officials of Pimpri Chinchwad Police are on the spot."
The incident took place around 6:45 am in the hilly terrain of the Bavdhan area after a private helicopter of Heritage Aviation took off from Oxford Helipad Bavdhan and crashed in the vicinity. As per reports, the helicopter was carrying three people on board, including two pilots and one engineer. The reason for the crash is yet to be ascertained.
BJP Corporator Dilip Vedepatil visited the site and said, "There were 2 captains & 1 engineer onboard. There was fog in the morning, it should not have flown but they went ahead anyway. Auditing of this helipad is not done. To ensure that such incidents do not occur again, we the locals would try to get this helipad shut down."
