After a closely fought poll battle, Congress candidate Chavan Ravindra Vasatrao on Saturday (November 23) registered a thumping victory in the Nanded Parliamentary seat. According to the information released by the Election Commission of India, the Congress candidate secured victory over the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate, Dr. Santukrao Marotrao Hambarde, with a mere margin of 1457 votes. While the Congress candidate polled 586788 votes, the BJP candidate managed to secure 585331 votes. It is pertinent to note that a byelection for this parliamentary constituency was necessitated after the demise of sitting MP Chavan Vasantrao Balwantrao.
Significantly, apart from the by-polls held for the Nanded Parliamentary constituency, the Election Commission of India also announced election results for the Wayanad Parliamentary seat, where Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra secured a landslide victory in the by-election. Speaking to reporters, she said, “I look forward to being your voice in Parliament and fighting for your hopes and dreams as one of your own.”
Further, Priyanka Gandhi also thanked the voters for their overwhelming support, noting it as a testament to her brother Rahul Gandhi’s hard work in the constituency. “This victory reflects their love for Rahul and their trust in me,” she said, pledging to honour the mandate with dedication.
