Congress foundation day: Upcoming polls will be battle of two ideologies, says Rahul Gandhi

Congress is marking its 139th foundation day today. Top Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge addressed a mega rally today in Nagpur. With its 'Hain Taiyyar Hum' rally, the party also launched its poll campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections today.

Marking the 139th foundation day of the party, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge addressed a rally in Maharashtra’s Nagpur city on Thursday (December 28), thus launching its poll campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections with a mega gathering ‘Hain Tayyar Hum’. Speaking at the rally, Rahul Gandhi said that there is a war going on between two ideologies in the country and the upcoming general elections will be a battle of two ideologies. He also said that Congress will undertake a caste census after coming to power at the Centre after the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. Many top party leaders from Maharashtra and other states took part in the event, while its former president Sonia Gandhi and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra did not attend the rally. Earlier today, Congress president Kharge unfurled the party flag at AICC HQ in Delhi on the party's 139th Foundation Day celebration event.

    At the Congress' 'Hain Taiyyar Hum' rally, party president Mallikarjun Kharge said that the Opposition was not allowed to speak inside the Parliament during the recently concluded Winter Session. "We were not allowed to speak inside the Parliament. We just asked how those intruders came inside the Parliament, why they entered the Parliament and who was behind this...instead of a BJP MP (who issued passes to the accused), if it was a Congress MP, then we would have been disgraced and insulted. They suspended 146 opposition MPs to save their one MP. We will keep fighting," he added.
