Amid the increasing numbers of such cases in the country, more than 50 hospitals in Mumbai received bomb threat emails on Tuesday. Jaslok Hospital, Raheja Hospital, Seven Hill Hospital, Kohinoor Hospital, KEM Hospital, JJ Hospital, St. George Hospital and many others received the threats. The threatening emails, which were sent using a VPN network, have raised serious security concerns across the city.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police have confirmed that they are actively investigating the situation. However, the identity of the sender and the motive behind the threats are yet to be ascertained. Authorities are working diligently to trace the origin of the emails and ensure the safety of all medical facilities and their patients, police said. Notably, the police have also heightened security measures around these hospitals and urged the public to stay calm and vigilant.
Hinduja College of Commerce gets bomb threat
Meanwhile, an email was also received at Mumbai's Hinduja College of Commerce, threatening to blow up the college with a bomb. Local police and bomb squad reached the spot and started an investigation but nothing suspicious was found. The police said that Mumbai's VP Road Police Station is investigating the matter.
Server of threat emails located in Cyprus
According to the police, all the threatening emails were sent from the same ID associated with Beeble.com, a website whose server is located in Cyprus. The emails alarmingly stated that bombs had been planted under hospital beds and in the bathrooms. The authorities have launched a serious investigation into the matter, the police added.
'Hoax' bomb threat emails to Kolkata hospital
Meanwhile, the state-run SSKM Hospital and Rabindra Bharati University in West Bengal received bomb threat emails, prompting a search and the police to launch an investigation on Tuesday. However, the threat emails turned out to be a hoax, they said. Teams comprising police personnel and bomb squad members were sent to both places, but the search did not yield anything, an officer said. The cyber section of the Kolkata Police has started an investigation to trace the source of the emails, he said.
41 airports across India get hoax bomb threat
Earlier in the day, as many as forty-one airports, including in Chennai, Patna and Jaipur, received bomb threat emails, prompting authorities to scramble contingency measures and carry out anti-sabotage checks that lasted hours, and each of them was found to be a hoax, official sources told news agency PTI. Security was beefed up as agencies swept the terminals after the emails were received around 12.40 pm from the ID exhumedyou888@gmail.com. An online group called "KNR" is suspected to be behind these hoax threat emails. The emails received by the airports carried almost the identical message: "Hello, there are explosives hidden in the Airport. The bombs will soon explode. You will all die."
