The third phase of Lok Sabha elections in 2024 ended on May 7. The polling was conducted on 93 seats across 11 states and Union Territories. With the Election Commission making strides to augment the voting percentage, a unique method was employed by the Bhopal administration to achieve the same. The Madhya Pradesh capital started a lottery scheme with attractive prizes at every booth.
In this lottery, it was decided to hold three lucky draws, at each of over 2,000 booths in which an American diamond ring, TV, fridge etc. were kept as gifts. This excellent initiative, taken by the Bhopal administration, has become a matter of discussion as the administration is being hailed for its efforts.
Voters won American diamond rings
The first lucky draw was held on Tuesday (May 7) at Char Imli booth. A person, named Yaggoj Sahu won the American diamond ring in the lucky draw. Apart from him, Premwati Kushwaha at Anand Vihar School Centre, Ayaan Khan at Hamidia College Center and Chhaya Saini at Chandabad Municipal Corporation Office Center have also won diamond rings.
Notably, the last two phases saw a decline in voting percentage in Madhya Pradesh as compared to 2019. The administration was looking for ways to recover it in the third phase.
In the third phase of Lok Sabha elections in MP the voting percentage reached about 66. While in Bhopal, it was recorded at 60.99 per cent, the highest voting percentage was registered in Rajgarh Lok Sabha with 72.99 per cent. Additionally, the voting in the state was conducted peacefully.
