The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, have welcomed their third baby - a son - into the world on April 23, 11:01 BST. Prince William was present for the birth of their son who weighs 8lbs 7oz.
The statement from the Kensington Palace read, "Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well". The name of the baby will be announced in due course.
The Duchess was admitted to the private Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington, west London, in the morning hours of April 23.The Palace wrote that Middleton "was admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London earlier this morning in the early stages of labor. The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge."
The Palace confirmed earlier that the third baby is due in April. A website has also been set up to give updates on the baby's birth: www.royal.uk/baby.
The couple already has two children - a son, Prince George, aged 6, and a daughter, Princess Charlotte, aged 2.
The new prince is the Queen's sixth great-grandchild.
