New Delhi: She is a best-selling author, but it didn't seem like it was her debut as a model! "Those Pricey Thakur Girls" fame author Anuja Chauhan sailed through as she walked as the showstopper on the beach-inspired ramp for designer Payal Jain at the ongoing Amazon India Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2016 here.
With a beach setting and Jain's 'La Playa Blanca' collection that had breezy beachwear, one couldn't help but think of the sand and sea while sitting at NSIC Ground here for the ongoing Amazon India Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2016 on Friday.
Inspired by the hues of sun, sand, ocean, flea markets, the spring-summer collection had abundant use of lace, crochet, hand knotting and more. The silhouettes were free-flowing with chikankari, zardosi, dori-work and stitch and tie technique.
Women can slip into those fluid kaftans and tunics or short and long sun dresses and laze around on the beach. The accessories added fun element to the look. Totes, sling bags, flea market jewellery and friendship bands further supported the beach look of the models.
The ambience was so relaxed that when Jain stepped out with her showstopper Chauhan, who wore a halter-neck free-flowing dress, she kicked off her chic footwear and let the sand kiss her feet.
Referring to her final bow after showcasing her collection, Jain, who is returning to the fashion gala after almost five years, told reporters: "I think it's the first time that I have walked so far."
She was all praise for the writer too. "She is effortless and chilled out. So I couldn't think of anybody else to walk for me."
Chauhan loved the sand on the ramp and felt very relaxed. Talking about the final piece that she wore, she said: "Payal gave me eight choices and I liked this one the most."
