Sachin and Anjali Tendulkar have been touted as first couple of Indian cricket. As a wife and homemaker Anjali's contribution in Sachin's career was well before the world when Sachin said, "You've been the best thing that happened to me".Most people know Anjali as Sachin Tendulkar's wife who left her medicine career in order to raise a family with him. But not many know that Anjali is also the inspiration behind Sachin's success.Let us now know more about the pillar of strength behind the 'God of Cricket' Sachin Tendulkar:Anjali was born on 10 November, 1967 to parents Anand Mehta and mother Annabel Mehta. Her father Anand Mehta is a Gujarati industrialist and her mother Annabel is of British origin and a social worker.Anjali recalls of meeting Sachin for the first time at Mumbai Airport, where she was waiting to receive her mother and Sachin had just returned from his cricket tour in 1990. Both knew at that instant that they had a liking for each other.Soon after Sachin and Anjali started going for movies, as she was still a medicine student couldn't take much time out of her schedule. Anjali remembers 'Roja' to be the couple's first watched film together. While Sachin was on his New Zealand tour, she recalls that while they were dating on the eve of Valentine's day, Sachin called up and asked her what will she buy for Valentine's.Anjali after giving much thought decided that she would buy herself a pretty diamond necklace and would think Sachin gifted her. She says, "After getting this thing out of me, Sachin casually talked and then we hung up as it was quite late". "The next morning my door bell rings and what I see is there is a man holding a gift from Sachin". "As I opened it there was this box with most beautiful diamond necklace that I had ever seen"."I knew I loved him even more as he had arranged it all in such a short time just for me".Sachin calls Anjali the motivator of his and their kids Sara & Arjun's life. He also fears her temper.As Anjali completed her course and started her practice; Sachin and Anjali tied the knot on May 24, 1995 after 5-year of courtship.Being wife of Cricket's most respect man Sachin Tendulkar, Anjali never had the air of being celeb. She still remains and loves to be called Mrs. Tendulkar. While her husband was breaking records, she was mentoring the kids, managing the family, relations and the childhood of their kids.Anjali believes that unlike a man, a woman is judged of her success on basis of her family's growth.
