Significance of Papankusha Ekadashi

According to the scriptures, by observing a fast only on Papankusha Ekadashi, a person gets rid of the punishments of hell. One is expected to donate gold, land, cow, food, water, shoes, umbrellas, sesame seeds on the day of Papankusha Ekadashi. It is said that the person who observes the fast of Papankusha Ekadashi gets freedom from sin. By observing fast on Papankusha Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu blesses and never lets his devotees suffer from lack of wealth, happiness, and good fortune.

Papankusha Ekadashi date and Subh Muhurat

According to Hindu calendar, Papankusha Ekadashi is on Wednesday, 25 October 2023. Ekadashi Tithi is starting from 3:14 pm on 24th October and will end the next day on 25th October at 12:32 pm. Ekadashi tithi will be on 25th October at the time of the Udaya tithi, hence the fast of Papankusha Ekadashi will be observed on 25th October.

Papankusha Ekadashi Puja Vidhi

On the Ekadashi date, after waking up in the morning and taking bath, take a pledge to fast.

After that do Ghatasthapana. Place the idol of Lord Vishnu on it.

The person observing this fast should recite Vishnu Sahastranam at night.

Ekadashi fast is broken only after giving food, charity and Dakshina to the Brahmin in the morning on Dwadashi Tithi.
