Shantanu-Nikhil's collection overshadows JJ Valaya's star-studded show

As the evening of the first day of Indian Bridal Fashion Week 2013 proceeded to its end the audience eagerly waited for the collection by designer duo Shantanu and Nikhil. The ambience was sober. Unlike the precede JJ Valaya show, Shantanu-Nikhil stuck to no-celeb show for their collection and had no Bollywood celebrity as their show stopper. Photo Courtesy: Praveen KumarThe evening witnessed a huge rows of page 3 celebs including Bollywood director Akbar Khan, actress Sonia Jahan and Sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan who came along with his wife and son Amaan Ali Khan. Shantanu - Nikhil's entire collection was a fusion of Catholic wedding amalgamated with Hindu bold prints in golden zardozi work. The collection had mainly catholic wedding gowns in white and heavy golden-bronze brocade work. The first round's highlight was Mustard, golden and white color schemes. Even the collection for men had very bright and bold colours.The highlight of the show was the minimal use of jewellery the collection was restricted to using only ringlets and bracelets. No heavy jewels were used in Shantanu-Nikhil collection. The theme of fusing Hindu-Catholic bridal patterns came out to be strong point of the evening. Another highlight was model Indrani Dasgupta who made an elegant entry wearing dark chocolate colored anarkali with golden zardozi work.
