Ganpati pooja with complete vidhi

As per Hindu calendar, Bhadrapada month's fortnight is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganpati. This year, the Chaturthi is beginning on September 9 and will go up to September 18, that is Anant Chaturdashi.The Ganpati festival is celebrated in India with much fun and fair, people worship Ganesh ji and fast to please the God in various ways mentioned in the Shastras.Pooja must be started only after performing ablutions.Begin the pooja by reciting “Om Shri Ganeshya Namah”Follow this by repeating “Om” thrice. Now take a sip of Ganga jal and invoke the god to purify you by repeating Om Shri Ganeshya Namah thrice and wash hands now the puja can begin.Sprinkle rice grains and flowers on the Ganesha idol and chant "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Asanam Samarpayami"Next wash the feet of the idol with rice and sandal water and chant "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Padyam Samarpayami"Then wash the hands of the idol with sandal water with rice and flowers and chant "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Samarpayami"Now offer the idol water to drink, thrice, while chanting "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Achmaneeyam Samarpayami"Then the idol has to be bathed with milk, curd, ghee, honey and sugar. Chant "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Panchamrita Snanam Samarpayami"After this offer holy water. All the five offerings are to be made separately chanting "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Payah Snanam Samarpayami" when offering milk."Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Dadhi Snanam Samarpayami" when offering curd."Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Ghrut Snanam Samarpayami" when offering ghee."Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Madhu Snanam Samarpayami" when offering honey."Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Sharkara Snanam Samarpayami" when offering sugar.Now offer holy water to the idol and then wipe it clean while chanting "Aum Shri Ganeshya Namah Uttaraposhnam Samarpayami".Now pooja will can be proceeded by making various offerings to Lord Ganesha, offer raiment to the idol in the form of two threads chanting "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Vastropvastram Samarpayami'.When offering white thread repeat "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Yagyopveetam Samarpayami"Now red sandal powder paste is applied to the brow of the idol while chanting "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Gandham samarpayami"Offer rice and chant, "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Akshtam Samarpayami"Garland the idol, shower flowers and chant, "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Puspam Samarpayami"Offer Durva grass while chanting, "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Durvan Kuran Samarpayami"Offer leaves while chanting "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Bilvapatram Samarpayami"Now light incense sticks, while chanting "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Dhoopam Agrapyami"Perform the aarti with a ghee lamp chanting "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Deepam Darshyami"Offer sweets to the lord, chanting "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Naivedyam Samaryami"Offer water to the idol "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Achmaneeyam Samarpayami"Offer fruit, "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Phalam Samarpayami"Offer betel nut, betel leaf, clove and cardamom and chant "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Tamboolam Samarpayami"Offer perfume and chant "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Itram Samarpayami"Offer coins and chant "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Dakshinam Samarpayami"Now offer sandal rice, flower, and durva all mixed in water and chant "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah Vishesh Argyam Samarpayami"Now genuflect before the idol while chanting, "Om Shri Ganeshya Namah"Finally to bring the puja to a close circle the idol in a clockwise direction while chanting Aum Shri Ganeshya Namah Pradakshinam Samarpayami once.
