Not far from an old sugar factory in the town of Le Moule, where the forefathers of the Indian immigrants brought by the French from their five territories in India 150 years ago toiled for years as near slaves, green park in Gardel was turned into a little India.
Besides the traditional puja, yoga demonstrations, Bharatnatyam, Bollywood and chutney dances, the celebrations organised by Michel Narayaninsamy, President of Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO), Guadeloupe also included business conferences and meets.
Over 3000 people of all shades and faiths participated in the festival of lights in the spirit of its motto, "better know, better understanding and better living together" with the theme of "Tolerance and Sharing."
