Deepika Padukone birthday special: Fashionable journey in Bollywood

One of the leading divas of Bollywood, Deepika Padukone is turning 28. Deepika was born ace tennis player Prakash Padukone, and Ujjala on 5 January 1986 in Copenhagen, Denmark.She also has a younger sister, Anisha, who is a golfer. Deepika was always a shy girl, later during one of her interviews she revealed that all her childhood and teenage years she had been badminton as her priority because it was run down her family. Deepika had already featured as a child actor in few commercials; during this period she was convinced that modeling was her call. She says, one day she confessed to her parents that she wants to give up badminton and take up modeling, while she was in her 10th grade. It was then under the tutelage of Prasad Bidapa, that Deepika did her stints in modeling industry. Deepika started her modeling days with her first commercial for Liril soap. She started focusing on her career as a model. Deepika made her ramp debut during Lakme Fashion Week in 2005, where she walked for designer Suneet Verma. She went on to win the 'Model of the Year' during Kingfisher's fashion awards. Seeing her beauty and grace, Deepika was the face of Kingfisher Calendar's 2006 issue. Designer Wendell Rodricks even went on to say that Deepika was the only person who was fresh and beautiful like Aishwarya Rai during her initial years. Deepika also featured as love interest of singer Himesh Reshamiya in one of his videos 'Naam Hai Tera' Many may not know but Deepika's debut was a Kannada film titled, Aishwarya. The movie went on to being a commercial hit that year. Upon seeing her immense popularity, Farah Khan cast her in upcoming project 'Happy New Year', which later got shelved. But Farah Khan wanted to be the one to launch Deepika she offered her another leading role in her re-incarnation melodrama 'Om Shanti Om' opposite Shah Rukh Khan. The film saw one of the biggest successes in the history of Bollywood.Deepika soon created a niche not only with her acting skills but with her style.
