Cannes 2014: Aishwarya Rai's red carpet appearances so far (see pics)

World's most awaited event of the year has begun and the red carpet has been laid for International celebs to pose, and flaunt their designer labels they had been planning ever since they walked down here last year.Cannes Film Festival 2014 has a host of interesting premieres lined up. While many celebs are glad to be walking down the red carpet representing India, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Bollywood's veteran at Cannes has already decided to leave her fans and audience awestruck with her appearance this year.It's been a journey of 12 years for Aishwarya who has amazed at the red carpet ever since her first appearance in 2002. Being India's brand ambassador for L'Oreal Paris, Aishwarya Rai will be seen walking down the red carpet on 16th and 17th May. And this year she will be having an intangible competition with none other than Bollywood answer to 'Carrie Bradshaw' Sonam Kapoor. Let's take look at Aishwarya's Cannes appearances....2002Aishwarya Rai made her debut Cannes red carpet appearance in 2002. She along with her co-star Shah Rukh Khan and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali attended the event for the premier of their movie 'Devdas' .Aishwarya Rai made a dazzling arrival at the red carpet in a bright yellow Neeta Lulla saree. While her desi looks were talked about globally her striking canary yellow saree was a bit loud with all the golden heavy jewellery. Aishwarya Ri, Shah Rukh Khan and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali greeting the crowd.Her movie went out to be a blockbuster hit globally. Her heavily embellished saree was a bit too loud as she donned as many things to block her look.2003As she entered in year 2nd year of Cannes appearance in 2003, Aishwarya opted for a Neeta Lulla green saree and finished off her look with a top bun hairdo. The look was much criticized back down here. Aishwarya Rai went ahead and teamed up her saree with golden jewellery which was a weird choice for an International red carpet.She tried hard to pull off a westernized desi look which fell flat.In the same year, Aishwarya Rai was chosen to be the brand ambassador of L'Oreal's dream team.But here too she led down, as her entire attire and look were totally messed up. 2004Shedding her desi image on the red carpet, gorgeous Aishwarya Rai arrived in wearing a white shimmery gown at Cannes 2004. Her look was over the top and aishwarya failed to nail it.She was much criticized as her dressed revealed much more than it could hide. The white gown with a plunging neckline was loathed globally as the wearer herself wasn't quite comfortable in it.One could clearly see the tyre of skin bulging out from her dresses. 2005Finally after string of disastrous outfits Aishwarya Rai's stylist finally got it right with a backless black Gucci gown with a plunging neckline. The long train of her dress gave out a regal touch to the entire outfit. Aishwarya paired up black sandals and left her hair tousled. She again strike gold with a printed dress by Giorgio Armani, she finished off her look with a matching black sling clutch and a net stawl. 2006Aishwarya Rai chose a black strapless mermaid gown for the gala dinner and paired it up with a contrasting shimmery silver box clutch. Aishwarya Rai looked stunning in a black strap gown as she kept her hair in loosed bun. Aishwarya by now had transformed a lot and became quite conscious about her Cannes and other International appearances. The black gown with long train had unexplained weird creases all over making it look quite unkempt. This year, not only her husband was accompanying her but the entire Bachchan family, father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan, mother-in-law Jaya Bachchan were too seen walking down the red carpet.2009When she walked in the arms of her husband at Cannes 2009 red carpet, everyone was left awestruck. The duo arrived in colour co-ordinated outfits.While Aishwarya was dressed in strapless Roberto Cavalli Gown. Her makeup up jewellery and the tiara dress was almost near to perfect for any red carpet appearance. She went with nude lip gloss and bronze makeup. Aishwarya looked flawless in a Gucci magenta dress and her hair tied up behind in bun.Aishwarya had beaten out Hollywood divas leaving them with envy as she donned an embellished black strapless Armani Prive dress.She chose to flaunt her famous pout in bright lip colour. 2011For 64th Cannes red carpet appearance Aishwarya left the global crowd stunned when she arrived in down peplum off-shoulder colour block dress by Armani Prive. This one shoulder peplum dress was apired up with a Jimmy Choo clutch.It was in this year when Aishwarya left her director Madhur Bhandarkar in lurch upon revealing her pregnancy during her last day at 2011 Cannes.2012Post giving birth to her daughter, Aishwarya was much criticized for not loosing her post-baby weight which was clearly put on show for the global audience at Cannes 2012 red carpet.She picked an Elie Saab dress with a matching clutch for the red carpet. For her last day at the amfAR gala, Aishwarya dazzled in an white-golden heavily embellished saree by Indian designers Abu Sandeep. 2013The next year, Aishwarya put on show a fab figure wth very much less signs of post baby weight. For the red carpet event she chose to don a silk teal colored Gucci Premiere dress.This time agains she flaunted her post-baby weight loss in an Elie Saab couture dress. She looked enthralling in an Abu Sandeep suit.
